THE CHRISTIAN AND HIS BIBLE
I find my Lord in the Bible wherever I chance to look. He is the theme of the Bible, the Centre and heart of the Book. He is the Rose of Sharon; He is the Lily fair. Whenever I open my Bible the Lord of the Bible is there.
He, at the Book’s beginning, gave to the earth its form; He is the Ark of shelter bearing the brunt of the storm; The Burning Bush of the desert, the budding of Aaron’s Rod. Wherever I look in the Bible, I see the Son of God.
The Ram upon Mount Moriah, the Ladder from earth to sky: the Scarlet Cord in the window, and the Serpent lifted high: the Smitten Rock in the desert: the Shepherd with staff and crook. The face of my Lord I discover wherever I open the Book.
He is the Seed of the woman, the Saviour virgin-born. He is the Son of David whom men rejected with scorn; His garments of Grace and Beauty, the stately Aaron deck: yet He is a Priest forever, for He is Melchizedek.
He is the Lord of Eternal Glory whom John in vision saw: Light of the Golden City; Lamb without spot or flaw; Bridegroom coming at midnight for whom the virgins look. Whenever I open my Bible I find my Lord in the Book. [Author unknown].
WATCH THE CONDUCTOR
Some years ago, we visited Washington D.C., seat of the United States government. We went to the Capitol building where the legislators meet. The quiet was disturbed when about sixty young people trooped up to the famous building. They were carrying what appeared to be musical instruments, and one by one began to tune them.
Over here a girl was practising scales on her flute, and over there a boy was blowing a trumpet. A set of drums was being put through its paces. With all sixty instruments warming up in its own way it was bedlam.
Then a man appeared in the crowd, the conductor, and there was silence. All eyes were on him as he raised his baton. On the downbeat the whole orchestra began to play in beautiful harmony.
I thought of the world with each doing his own thing and doing that “which is right in his own eyes.” [Judges 21:25]. The result? Disaster and discord.
Oh, that folks would get their eyes on the Great Conductor, the Lord Jesus Christ. He brings a sweet, saving harmony when our eyes are on Him.
TRUDEAU SEEN WEARING A KALAWA
Several news organisations, including the National Post and Brantford Expositor have recently reported the Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been seen on several occasions wearing a kalawa on his wrist.
A kalawa is a sacred Hindu thread of protection. According to Hindu priest, Acharya Guruji, a priest quotes a mantra while tying it on and the power of protection passes from the priest to the recipient.
Several recent photographs (July 10, August 30, October 16 & 23, 2024) show Trudeau wearing red threads on his right wrist. Perhaps, with many in his caucus trying to oust him, he feels in need of some extra protection!
Christians know that such inanimate objects have no power whatever and are merely superstitions. Do we need a Prime Minister, who has already led the country into many unbiblical practices, and feels the need of protection from a pagan god?
THE AMERICAN ELECTION
The American people will be going to the polls on Tuesday to end what has been a bitter campaign about who the next President should be.
The United States is in a somewhat difficult situation as the country is more divided than ever. Both major parties have bitterly attacked each other, and truth is fallen in the streets.
Christians are encouraged to pray for those in authority [I Timothy 2:1-3]. God would have spared Sodom and Gomorrah for ten righteous [Genesis 18:32]. Surely, there is more than ten righteous in America whose prayers will preclude the judgment of God.
May the sovereign Lord put in the White House the President of His choosing.
